Water Program : Benguerir site recycles its waste water

The Benguerir wasterwater treatment plant (WWTP) is a success-story of OCP’s Water Program. With a treatment capacity of 2,6 million cubic meters by 2020, the Benguerir WWTP has required an investment of about 150 million Dirhams.

Today, the plant supplies OCP’s mining activities in the region. Part of this water also serves the irrigation of the Green Town Mohammed VI green spaces’. Its process of biological treatment consists in the disposal of carbon pollution through three processing queues: water and mud, with treatment, filtration, extraction and drying, then gas, with storage and upgrading.

Furthermore, the WWTP produces electricity drawn from upgraded biogas through a purification process. This recycled energy provides to the station one third of its power consumption.
