IFA Strategic Forum in Beijing OCP receives the HSE gold medal

OCP Group's commitment to excellence in HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) has been rewarded with a gold medal from the International Fertilizer Association (IFA). The award was presented to the Group's Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mostafa Terrab, on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, in parallel with the IFA Strategic Forum in Beijing, China. The prize, which was awarded to only 22 out of more than 400 eligible companies this year, confirms OCP Group’s strong commitment to promoting a rigorous health and safety culture based on anticipation, risk prevention, and the continuous mobilization of all employees.  The renewed objective of OCP’s HSE commitment is to provide all employees and subcontractors with a working environment in line with international health and safety standards. The company launched the “Zero Incident” project to ground its world-class safety culture and harmonize HSE best practices at its various sites, leveraging its joint venture with Dupont, a world leader in HSE. In addition, OCP is actively working to improve its environmental footprint. Indeed, the establishment of the Slurry Pipeline, linking the Khouribga mine to the Jorf Lasfar processing site over a distance of 235 km, allows for yearly CO2 emission reduction of nearly 1 million metric tons. OCP also recently launched a circular economy program that is helping the company become a fertilizer industry leader when it comes to the circular economy and the conservation of resources. The implementation of Sulfacid technology, for example, is a first in the fertilizer industry, allowing for the elimination of SO2 gas emissions by converting them to sulfuric acid that is reused in the production chain. OCP is a proponent of resource conservation and has also implemented a water energy program supported by European green financing. The program aims to promote alternative clean energy and the use of unconventional water resources for its industrial needs. As a result, 35% of the industrial sites’ water needs are satisfied by seawater desalination and wastewater treatment, and 75% of the energy provided to OCP's production sites is clean.
