OCP Group is continuing its commitment to regional sustainable development
OCP Group reiterated its commitment to sustainable development at the Horse Show held from October 16 to 21 in El Jadida. By providing support to this event for the eleventh consecutive time, OCP Group is celebrating Moroccan equestrian traditions and sports and sharing in their passion for horses with the region’s inhabitants. OCP will be present in the space for sponsors and institutions, with a 45 m2 stand that will allow visitors to learn about the scope and impact of the company’s achievements and projects in the region. OCP Group’s presence at this event is part of a socio-cultural development support program in the province of El Jadida. In its role as corporate citizen, OCP is carrying out many initiatives, particularly through its Act4Community volunteer initiative. This program enables OCP employees to get involved in civic projects for the benefit of communities. Targeted actions have been carried out at the regional and local levels in the environment, health, education, and regional development sectors. Among other things, OCP’s social commitment has culminated in improved capacities for local associations and the financing of several community projects in the context of the company’s policy for local engagement and combating insecurity. Education is one of the priorities in the company’s social action plan. OCP is contributing to a stronger regional educational offer through the renovation, expansion, and construction of schools. OCP’s commitment goes even further in its backing of local socio-cultural and sports development by supporting events that contribute to the promotion of Morocco’s regions. In keeping with this, OCP Group, a long-standing partner of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection and supporter of the Clean Beaches Program since 1999, advocates a participatory approach to joint action. The approach is based on partnerships and consultations with all stakeholders (local authorities, police and auxiliary forces, firefighters, Red Cross, provincial culture delegation, associations, etc.) and greater involvement of Act4Community volunteers. During the summer of 2018, the OCP Jorf Lasfar site expanded its support for the Clean Beaches Programs to include not only infrastructure development, but also environmental awareness and beach activities. As a stakeholder that is committed to preserving the environment, OCP Group has also incorporated the SULFACID system into its Jorf Lasfar industrial complex. This innovative process reduces OCP’s environmental footprint and significantly decreases sulfur dioxide emissions. The resulting improved environmental performance has led to a 98% reduction in gas emissions, exceeding the highest international standards. The Sulfacid program is part of OCP Group’s efforts to fulfill its environmental leadership and circular economy ambitions. Other innovations and environmental excellence projects are planned and underway. This is particularly the case in the areas of mine rehabilitation, waste recovery, and water consumption management.
